Meet the lady behind Unique Headdresses

Unique Headdresses was established in September 2007 by Jan. She has always been strongly artistic and is fascinated by the beauty of flowers. She takes pleasure in the joy and comfort that they bring people, she says “Flowers bring smiles to whom they are given and to those who wear them”

Jan’s ‘real flower’ headdresses and tiara’s idea came to her during an assignment and exam design for her Floristry City and Guilds Certificate taken in June 2007. She was making a circulate with real white spray roses when inspiration struck!

“I looked at this basic circular wire in my hands and thought ……..This wire can be added to, moulded, and be shaped into something different”

Jan graduated from Plumpton College, near Lewes, Sussex in the summer 2007 with course Distinctions and Credits.  Shortly after her graduation she set to work on her unique designs.  She began by formulating ideas, making sketches and notes, colouring and planning each of the headdress design’s dimensions.

“I took inspiration from modern day jewelled tiara’s but I also got some inspiration from historical fashions.  I made the frames knowing that this was something really special.  I felt like I like I was Mary Quant discovering the mini skirt!  This was new, a fresh approach …… brand-new design territory.  It is a brilliant feeling…… and I am taking my floristry skills to a new, exciting level.”

Jan’s unique designs will allow the bride to completely co-ordinate her chosen flowers for her special day; From veil to bouquets, bridesmaids to pageboys, even top table flowers – The colour scheme for your special day can flow through all of your flower arrangements.
